Sales Tax Collection for Customers in New York

Effective as of October 6, 2026, MailerSend is required to apply New York Sales Tax to payments from customers based in New York. This tax will be added automatically to your MailerSend invoices.

Sales tax is determined by the address in your billing information. If you’re not based in New York, update your billing address in your account to make sure you’re charged correctly.

In the event of a refund, the Sales Tax charge will be included in the reimbursement.

How to check or update your billing information

1. From the Dashboard, navigate to Plan & billing from the left-hand menu and select the Billing tab.

2. In the Billing information section, click Update.

3. In the Update billing information pop-up, review and update your details.

Who may be exempt

Some organizations may be exempt from New York Sales Tax, including:

  • Not-for-profit religious, charitable, and educational organizations (often called section 501(c)(3) organizations)

  • The United Nations and other international organizations

  • United States armed forces posts and organizations

Not every non-profit organization qualifies for an exemption. For full details on New York’s requirements, see Sales tax exempt organizations and When an exemption certificate is needed.

Note:

If you believe your organization qualifies for an exemption, email a copy of your exemption certificate to taxes@mailersend.com.
