How will the Hobby plan update affect my account?

Starting December 2, 2025, a small monthly fee of $7 will be applied to the Hobby plan. The new Free plan will be introduced, with up to 500 emails/month.

Frequently Asked Questions

What will happen to my account on December 2, 2025?

This change only affects Hobby plan accounts. Starter, Professional and Enterprise accounts will remain unaffected.

If you opt in to the new Hobby plan pricing, billing will begin after December 2, 2025 when your next billing cycle begins, and your account will continue running as usual. As part of the new Hobby plan limits, your monthly emails will be increased from 3,000 to 5,000, plus:

  • Webhooks will increase to 5
  • You’ll have access to inbound routing
  • Extra usage will be charged at $1.20/1,000 emails
  • You’ll get a one-off supply of 100 email verification credits

If your current sending volume meets or exceeds the new Free plan threshold, we recommend that you opt in to stay on the Hobby plan.

If you choose not to opt in, your account will be downgraded to the Free plan on December 2, and you won’t be billed. As part of the new Free plan limits, your monthly emails will be decreased from 3,000 to 500 (with a maximum of 100 emails/day), plus:

  • User seats will be decreased from 5 to 2 (1 being an accountant role)
  • Templates will decrease from 3 to 1
  • Extra usage will be unavailable
  • API tokens will decrease from 3 to 1
  • Daily API request limit will decrease to 100

If your current sending volume does not meet the new Free plan threshold, and your account usage will be unaffected by any of the other changes, no action is necessary and you can remain on the Free plan.

Will I be charged automatically?

No—you will only be charged if you opt in to continue on the Hobby plan. If you don’t opt in, your account will be automatically downgraded to the Free plan on December 2, 2025.

What happens if I reach the monthly email quota on the Free plan (500 emails)?

If your sending reaches 500 emails before the period ends, or you reach the maximum of 100 API requests in a day, your sending will be paused until the next period begins. (Email quotas renew monthly, API quotas renew daily.) The Free plan does not offer extra usage beyond this.

How can I stay on the Hobby plan?

To opt in to continue on your current Hobby plan, while logged into your account:

1. Go to Plan & billing.
2. In the Your plan tab, click View all plans.
3. Select monthly or annual, and then click the Continue button in the Hobby plan section.
4. Fill in the details to complete your order and then click Checkout.

What if I don’t take any action?

If your sending volume doesn’t meet the new Free plan limit (500 emails/month), you don’t have additional users or use Templates, your account will continue to run as usual.

If your sending volume exceeds the new free 500 email monthly limit, or you exceed the daily 100 API request limit, your sending will be paused until the next daily or monthly period begins.

If you have more than 1 user and 1 Accountant role user, more than 1 API token, and more than 1 template that are essential to your email sending, the new Free plan limits for these may also impact your account, and we recommend staying on the Hobby plan.

How can I know if I reach my sending quota?

You can use the dedicated quota endpoint via the API, or check your dashboard to learn how many calls your account made during the period.

The quota monitor in the MailerSend dashboard

To check how many daily request you have remaining, you can use the Get API quota endpoint and you can view the daily request quota limits for each plan here. You can also check your rate limits by looking at the headers of your responses. And, finally, we send an email when the limit is met.

What counts toward the sending quota?

Any emails sent from your account or received via inbound routing and forwarded or posted to an endpoint URL count toward the monthly email limit. Each individual email is counted once.

Why did I receive an email about MailerSend’s Hobby plan update?

You received an email about this update because your email address is linked to a MailerSend account on the Hobby plan. If you no longer wish to use your MailerSend account, no action is necessary. Alternatively, you can follow these steps to delete your account.
